Digital Video Broadcasting - Terrestrial (DVB-T) is a transmission standard of mainly television programs composed of their digitally encoded audio and video streams in a "multiplex". Unlike analogue, where only one channel is broadcast on one frequency, DVB-T allows multiple programs. The transition from analogue was conducted mainly to reduce costs, electromagnetic pollution and interference, improve quality of picture and sound, and offer interactive services to the end-user.

While DVB-T is still widely used, a successor standard DVB-T2 is being introduced in its place, offering a more robust signal with larger content capacity.
