I am in the initial process for a personal project I'd like to embark on. I would like to create a bed frame that hangs from the ceiling with some kind of pulley/winch system, mechanical or motorised, that allows me to retract it upwards for use of the floor space underneath. This picture summarises what I'd like to build:

Ceiling Bed frame pulley system

I am an EEE grad and thought I could use some help from civil/mechanical engineers out there.

I have lots of experience with woodworking but I want to know what the main considerations here are for load. Right above the ceiling is my attic supported by wooden joists which I am confident could take the load of a bed frame and any potential loads of usage (pun unintended hehe).

My initial thoughts were a synthetic thick rope for the pulley/winch system. Could someone point out any considerations I need to make?

Thank you for your time!
