enter image description hereEE here; I need help! This gearbox takes rotational motion from a single DC motor and turns one gear when the DC motor spins in one direction and another gear when the DC motor spins in another direction. Can you help me understand how it works?

Update from initial post. I've opened the gearbox (it was not held together by screws; it was press fit)

See the additional picture.

This slot is the key

It holds the axle of one of the gears.

When the motor turns one way (so the gear driving the floating gear is turning clockwise) the motion of the driving gear pushes it away from the big gear. But when the motion is reversed the floating gear is pulled in and wedges itself between the gears and will transfer torque.
