What amout of amps is needed to weld 2 pieces of 10mm steel in a butt joint and fillet joint.
I have read on numerous sites about ~35-40 amps per mm.
I see that for example two steel plates of 10mm thickness are welded in a butt joint with V grove around 100-120amps for root and then passing layer after layer.
How that rule applies then, how can 100 amps even on layers join 10mm of thickness.
Also for a fillet weld for two plates of 10mm going uphill again some 120amps are needed in passes.
Why is it then always talked about 40amps per mm when it is done with 120amps.
What 400amps welder are used for? Regular 200amp rig should weld it without problem.
If someone can please explain it?
Thank you in advance!
