I'm annotating a German industrial machine schematic with English translations. I'm stuck at this one. The lower half shows two solenoids for vacuum generation (presumably venturi type) and the upper half shows two sensors.

What does "Vakuum Uew" mean? I've never seen it and a German (mechanical) engineering friend doesn't recognise it either. I don't imagine they're anything more than a pressure sensor but I'd like to understand the terminology.

Vakuum switches

Many thanks.

I'm not actually sure about this, but I did find Uew as abbreviation for Ueberwachung in one single source, which translates to monitoring, so it would mean vacuum monitoring. That seems plausible when it labels a pressure sensor.

Usually written as Überwachung, ue is used in this case to replace the German umlaut ü, probably to avoid issues with displaying the ü.
