We have a piece of software that is running on a customer server. Our software has started locking up and I'd like to take a process dump for offline debugging. The software itself needs to be restarted within ~10 minutes of locking up and the customer is not willing to risk an upgrade at this point.

We were however allowed to install the SysInternals suite on the server. When we try create a process dump using Process Explorer the result is an empty file. We ran the ProcExp as administrator and tried both the Full and Mini dump modes with the same result. We also tried dumping some other software, which seemed to work.

So my question is: what can cause ProcExp to create a completely empty dump file?
