Why sample at a certain frequency just to immediately downsample it?
I apologize if this question is not well-posed. I'm reading a paper that claims the following:
The magnetometer vectors are sampled at 100 Hz. The detector filters and down samples the vectors down to 10 Hz to remove signal noise and reduce the…

Can the Nyquist sampling rate also apply for the human eye the same as in electronics?
In electronics the Nyquist sampling rate shows you the maximum frequency that could be sampled without aliasing. So if the human eye is able to see 24fps does it mean that you can see all the information below 12fps?

What is the relation between multiplexing and the sampling frequency in a data acqusition system?
There is a data acquisition board recording analog signals from 10 channels with multiplexing. If one wants to sample each channel with for example 2000Hz and the number channels is 5 should the sampling frequency be set to 5x2000=10000 for the…

Sampled offset voltage data and its uncertainty
In a measurement process sometimes contant voltage output of a for example force transducer is logged as offset as a bias to be subtracted later from the dynamic measurement. When the sensor is at rest, this offset is sampled at a specific sampling…

Simultaneous sampling of several channels with single ADC?
I am looking at this 8-channel, 18-bit and 200 ks/s ADC.
The datasheet claims the sampling is done simultaneously for all the channels, but the diagram shows that there is only one ADC, so how is this possible?

AC voltage measurement sampling
I do micro-controller programming, but I'm not very good in electronics. I'm trying to read some circuits to understand what I'm building. Through that I came across the attached circuit.
I couldn't understand it and I don't know how it could be…

Possibility of effectively under sampling a band pass signal?
For a university project we have been tasked with implementing a digital signal processing system on an STM32 discovery board in which we must model the AM channel to measure and graphically display the channel characteristics of the AM band (526.5…

Sampling of non-baseband signals - Shannon sampling theorem
In the example on Sampling of non-basedband signals on Wikipedia,
the author said it is sufficient to sample at 4 MHz (twice the width of the frequency interval). But how did the author calculate the width of the frequency interval which in that…

Sampling motion through travel
I have an object with an accelerometer on it that is going to travel rapidly for 14ms.
My coworker says, "the bandwidth of this transient is 25Hz" .. "So we can sample at 100Hz to sufficiently capture this event."
Something in me questions this. He…

Understanding the effect of bit depth and sampling rate on SNR
I know the meaning of a 16 bit ADC sampling at 1kHz, but I cannot relate it to SNR contribution to the signal. I also know the concept of aliasing. But even though no aliasing the resolution and the sampling rate of the ADC matters when it comes to…
